The educational center CEIP Francisco Grangel Mascarós in L'Alcora has achieved two outstanding recognitions in the seventh edition of Up!Steam, the educational innovation competition organized by the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Students from the third cycle of Primary Education won first and third prize in the Coders Junior category, thanks to technological projects aimed at solving social challenges.
These awards recognize the creation of applications and social technologies designed to address real citizen needs. With this success, CEIP Francisco Grangel Mascarós strengthens its track record in the competition, having participated continuously for the last four editions and consistently reaching the final phase with various accolades.
The projects presented by the students stem from observing environmental needs and aim to provide solutions through technological tools, programming, and STEAM methodologies. The initiative fosters the development of skills such as innovation, computational thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, while also promoting values related to sustainability, inclusion, and social participation.
A representation of students and teachers was received at the Town Hall of L'Alcora by the mayor, Samuel Falomir, and the Councilor for Education, Ana Huguet. During the meeting, the students explained the research, design, and development process of the award-winning proposals.
Participation in Up!Steam is part of the center's educational commitment to STEAM methodologies. The responsible teachers, Belén Aledón Pitarch and Elena Sales Pallarés, emphasize that the goal is for students to learn to use technology to face daily challenges and generate solutions with a positive impact on society. The project is also part of the work lines included in the center's Erasmus+ accreditation 2022-2027.
