The mayor of Costur, Gerardo Nebot, has informed citizens of the suspension of the XXV Mostra Cultural de l'Alcalatén, an event that was scheduled to take place in the municipality this year. The government team has expressed its "disappointment and discontent" with this decision, given the cultural, social, and economic relevance that the exhibition represents for Costur and the entire l'Alcalatén region.
Although they respect the association's decision, they do not share it. Nebot explained that, from the outset, the government team worked on drafting adjusted budgets for the 2026 fiscal year, which included a specific allocation to cover the exhibition's expenses. However, these budgets were not approved due to the refusal of the two opposition parties, who hold the majority.
The town hall emphasizes that they did not participate in the decision to suspend the exhibition. In the last meeting, their participation was limited to having a voice but no vote, as they were considered the main sponsors. Nevertheless, they presented several alternatives to ensure the event's celebration.
“"The celebration of this exhibition represented a unique opportunity to highlight traditions, boost local activity, and strengthen the sense of community."
The mayor deeply regrets that the exhibition cannot be held under the planned conditions, as it represented an opportunity to boost local activity and strengthen the sense of community. The Costur Town Hall reiterates its commitment to cultural promotion and assures that it will continue to work to promote initiatives that contribute to the development and well-being of the municipality.
The Mostra Cultural de l'Alcalatén, organized annually by a town in the region, was to be held in Costur in 2026, coinciding with its 25th anniversary. Ultimately, l'Alcora, which was supposed to host the 26th edition, will host the 25th edition in 2027, coinciding with the 300th anniversary of the Royal Factory.
