This center, converted in 2011 into the first museum space in the town, aims to showcase traditional elements for olive oil production using original pieces from an old oil mill. However, in 2025, it received no visitors, neither from educational centers nor from individuals.
The data was made public by the Culture councilor during the last municipal plenary session, in response to questions about the facility's management. In 2024, the museum hosted 1,452 visitors, most of whom came from 19 educational centers, in addition to nine individual visits.
“"We have gone from an improvable situation to a non-existent one, a result of the PP's lack of management."
Visits to the museum can be arranged by appointment via email, and the schedule is agreed upon based on the availability of City Council staff. The museum's interior, according to the municipal website, is divided into a didactic and an exhibition section, displaying the stages of olive oil production and elements such as the first animal-drawn press or the mechanical press.
The opposition has criticized the abandonment of the Olive Oil Museum, pointing to a lack of management, promotion, and planning. They also recalled the governing party's electoral commitment to create a network of museums and restore cultural spaces, promises that, according to the opposition, have not been fulfilled.
