The Port of Alicante has closed the first quarter of the year with a very positive evolution, consolidating its growth in strategic traffics such as general cargo, containers, and passengers.

According to official statistics published by Puertos del Estado, the Port Authority of Alicante has achieved an accumulated total of 724,729 tons in total goods, representing an increase of 5.69% compared to the same period last year. This performance reinforces the port's growth trend and confirms its role as a key infrastructure for the economy of the province and the Mediterranean arc.
General cargo has shown particularly favorable performance, with 327,034 tons in March, a 26.24% increase compared to the same month in 2025. In the annual accumulated, this category amounts to 718,374 tons, with a growth of 5.10%. Within this segment, container traffic continues to be one of the main drivers of port activity, with 24,617 TEUs in March, a 46.22% increase from a year ago. In the accumulated year, TEUs reached 55,610, with a 13.35% increase.

"This progress confirms the port's strength as a competitive and expanding logistics hub."

However, the regressive trend in solid bulk movement, which until now represented the largest volume of traffic, continues with 102,307 tons this March and an accumulated 258,799 in the first quarter, representing an 18.6% decrease.
In any case, passenger traffic once again stands out as one of the best indicators, growing to 31,577 travelers in March, a 107.63% increase compared to the same month last year. In the annual accumulated, the number of passengers amounts to 66,147, with a 78.09% rise. Particularly noteworthy has been the performance of cruise traffic, which recorded 7 calls in March and 22,419 passengers, compared to 7,490 in the same month of 2025. In the accumulated year, the port has received 33,583 cruise passengers, representing a 348.37% increase.

"These data consolidate Alicante as an increasingly attractive destination within international cruise traffic."

Foreign traffic maintains a positive evolution, with 142,798 tons in March and a 5.05% growth. In the accumulated, it reaches 349,966 tons, a 1.67% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Within this section, exports stand out very clearly, with an increase of 56.12% in March and 50.89% in the annual accumulated. Monthly statistics also reflect an increase in ship provisioning, which grew by 183.09% in March and stands at 6,355 tons in the accumulated, almost triple that of a year ago.
Although the number of registered vessels in March was slightly lower than last year, the port has compensated for this evolution with a strong increase in activity, especially in higher value-added traffics. The improvement in general cargo, containers, passengers, and cruises demonstrates a more diversified and dynamic business structure, consolidating the port's growth path and strengthening its contribution to the economic and commercial development of the region.
