The wind quintet of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Alicante (OFUA) will celebrate World Jazz Day on April 29 with a concert at the Casa Sicilia 1707 winery in Novelda, combining music and local gastronomy.

This special event will merge music with enological heritage, accompanied by a menu designed to highlight local products. The quintet will perform, after lunch at 3:45 PM, a selection of jazz pieces showcasing the versatility of the orchestra's musicians.
The musical program includes renowned tunes such as Just a Closer Walk, Ragtime – Suite Americana by Crespo, A String of Pearls and Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller, Round Midnight by Monk, Our Love Is Here To Stay by Gershwin, and Chatanuga Choo Choo by Glen Miller. The second part of the concert will feature My Funny Valentine by Richard Rodgers, Summertime and New York, New York by Sinatra, What a Wonderful World by Amstrong, and Volare by Dean Martin.

Furthermore, Grupo Vectalia and the University of Alicante have reaffirmed their commitment to cultural promotion and support for young talent by renewing their collaboration agreement. This agreement solidifies a relationship that allows the OFUA to continue being a benchmark of musical excellence in the province.
The OFUA currently features two chamber groups: the string quartet Vibrato String Quartet UA and the wind quintet Maestoso Brass Ensemble. These groups complement the orchestra's training and pedagogical work, expanding its repertoire and musical versatility. The young performers in these ensembles showcase their skills and musical sensitivity.
The five members of the Maestoso Brass Ensemble UA are part of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Alicante. They trained at the Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante and the Brass Academy of Alicante, balancing their studies with concert and performance preparation. They receive masterclasses from professional conductors and instrumentalists and participate in institutional events and university concerts throughout the province of Alicante.
