The request was made during a meeting between the municipal representative and the Minister of Emergencies, Juan Carlos Valderrama, held this Wednesday at the town hall. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate security and emergency action policies in the municipality.
The municipal representative emphasized the importance of collaboration between administrations to implement prevention and emergency measures. One of the key proposals is the alert system for the Juncaret ravine, as water surges during torrential rain episodes affect hundreds of families in two urbanizations. Although the Local Police act on each occasion, a more centralized management with the ministry is sought.
“"The Local Police act every time it happens, but we would like to have it centralized with the ministry."
Furthermore, the minister was informed about the constant updating of municipal plans and drills to adapt to Mutxamel's growing population. For his part, Valderrama highlighted the Town Council's work on emergency plans, including territorial ones and special plans against forest fires, floods, or seismic risk, noting that it is one of the municipalities in the Valencian Community that complies with all of them and is aware.
The meeting also addressed coordination between both administrations to guarantee security and emergencies in the municipality, with a focus on institutional loyalty. The Council has previously warned, such as during last winter's torrential rains, about the danger of driving on certain roads due to the rising waters of the Juncaret ravine, even closing traffic.
