The collective, with the support of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, presented on Saturday, May 9, the proposals from the twelve commissions that will participate in the most anticipated category. This presentation is the first major showcase for works that, according to the management of Special Hogueras of Alicante, are set to be the most commented on and photographed of the upcoming festivities.
In total, twelve commissions are participating in this edition. Ten of them are part of the Special Hogueras of Alicante collective: Baver-Els Antigons, Carolines Altes, Diputació-Renfe, Florida Portazgo, Florida-Plaça de la Vinya, La Ceràmica, Polígon de Sant Blai, Port d’Alacant, Sagrada Família, and Sèneca-Autobusos. These are joined by two recently promoted commissions: Calvo Sotelo and Explanada.
“"Nothing the collective does would be possible without the true protagonists: the artists."
The collaboration of Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, with a grant of 40,000 euros, highlights the importance of the Hogueras artist and the collective work behind each monument. The presentation of the sketches marks the symbolic start of the countdown to the 'plantà', and the distinction of the best 'foguera' in Alicante will be announced on June 21.
Among the proposals, Calvo Sotelo stands out with Al·lucinació, and Explanada with Alacantrina. Other commissions present works such as Corónate, reina! from Baver-Els Antigons, Clímax from Carolines Altes, and Llum, l'origen de les Fogueres from Diputació-Renfe. The diversity of titles and styles promises an attractive competition for the public, which usually draws the most attention during the main days of the festival.
The event also included the display of sketches for the children's 'hogueras' from the commissions, reinforcing the generational continuity of the celebration. Representatives from the Alicante City Council and other entities attended the event, which concluded with a tribute to the Belleas del Foc of Alicante, Leire Arellanos and María Pastor.
