The Las Cigarreras cultural center in Alicante is hosting the VII Poetry Slam Alicante, a contemporary poetry tournament that promotes poetic creation and exhibition in a scenic format, with the audience serving as the jury.

In this tournament, participants must recite their own texts within a maximum of three minutes, using only their voice and body, without any props. The attending public acts as the jury, scoring the performances.
The Poetry Slam is structured into five sessions and a final. The sessions will take place on Thursdays, April 30, May 7, 14, 21, and 28, at 8 PM, in the Caja Negra. The grand final will be held on June 26, also at 8 PM, in the Casa de la Música, both venues located within the Las Cigarreras cultural center.
Each session lasts between an hour and a half and two hours, and includes musical entertainment. In the first round, up to seven poets participate, and the audience votes. After a break, which may feature a surprise guest, the three finalists perform. Following a second vote, a winner is chosen who will advance to the tournament final.
The Las Cigarreras cultural center emphasizes that the Poetry Slam Alicante aligns with the venue's objectives by fostering active public participation, generating accessible programming, connecting with young creators and new audiences, and integrating literature, performing arts, and urban culture, with a significant educational and cultural mediation aspect.
