The regional secretary of Employment and general director of Labora, Antonio Galvañ, has highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between universities, businesses, and public administrations. The goal is to improve youth employability and facilitate their entry into the labor market, particularly in the Comunitat Valenciana.
Galvañ made these statements during the inauguration of the XXIV Conference of University Employment Services, held at the University of Alicante. The event brings together professionals and heads of university employment services from across Spain to analyze the challenges of orientation, leadership, and university talent management.
The regional official pointed out that changes in the labor market require greater coordination so that students can transition to employment with better tools and skills. He noted that universities are no longer just institutions of higher education but also play a fundamental role in professional guidance, entrepreneurship, innovation, and connection with the productive sector.
“"Retaining talent is not about asking people to stay, but about offering them opportunities so that doing so is a natural decision."
Technological transformation, artificial intelligence, and digitalization are modifying business needs and the most in-demand professional profiles. Therefore, Galvañ emphasized the importance of strengthening both technical skills and transversal abilities, adaptability, and lifelong learning.
Labora is promoting new tools, such as AI-powered interview simulators, to train professional skills and improve the preparation of job seekers. Additionally, the Generalitat has launched a Training Plan with nearly 200 million euros to train over 58,000 people in strategic sectors.
Generating, retaining, and attracting talent are key challenges for current employment policies. The conferences held in Alicante have served to highlight the role of university employment services as a bridge between education and the labor market, helping to improve student employability and respond to the needs of a constantly transforming economy.
