The exhibition, titled The Real Club de Regatas de Alicante through the lens of Perfecto Arjones. A journey through time across the 60s, 70s, and 80s, brings together twenty-four images reflecting the social and sporting activity developed over three decades around the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante.
These photographs, captured by Perfecto Arjones, who was the head of photography for the newspaper Información, immortalize both sporting competitions and the life of Alicante society in this emblematic city enclave.
Through these images, it is evident how the club was much more than a sports entity, becoming a space where society and sport, tradition and modernity converged, and where the city of Alicante consolidated one of its most recognizable hallmarks: its connection to the sea.
The exhibition offers a glimpse into the daily life of an Alicante open to the sea, where the halls and terraces of the Real Club de Regatas were a meeting point for personalities from political, cultural, and economic life, both from the city and beyond, to participate in various events and sports competitions.
With this initiative, the Generalitat seeks to highlight photojournalism and its contribution to preserving collective memory, through a visual narrative that documents significant facts and realities of recent history, reinforcing its conservation as informational and cultural heritage.
The photographic exhibition by Perfecto Arjones constitutes a fundamental testimony to the recent history of Alicante and the Comunitat Valenciana. It can be visited free of charge during this month of May and until June 12 in the Correos y Telégrafos building in Alicante.
