JSV Logistic, a company specializing in freight transport, has announced the purchase of a third vessel for its maritime terminal at the Port of Alicante, aiming to increase traffic to the Canary Islands and Turkey.

The freight transport specialist, JSV Logistic, is making a significant investment in its maritime terminal at the Port of Alicante. The company, founded by the Herzog family, is focused on enhancing the operational capacity of this hub, known as the Port Hub of Alicante, to boost traffic on its routes to the Canary Islands and Turkey.
To achieve this, the acquisition of a third vessel has been initiated to strengthen these routes, with potential for future itinerary additions. This new ship joins the two container ships previously purchased. The company expects the first of these, the Mila Green, to be operational this summer. It is a 'Methanol ready' vessel, designed to reduce CO₂ emissions by 40-70% and virtually eliminate sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. It has a capacity of over 1,200 TEU and is 35% enabled for the transport of temperature-controlled containers.
JSV initially invested 38 million euros in the purchase of the first vessel and replicated this outlay in October with the acquisition of a second sister ship, the Miranda Green, which shares the same specifications regarding capacity and emission reduction, also featuring a dual-fuel combustion system and methanol readiness.
Both vessels are characterized by a greater than conventional width and height to optimize the loading of Pallet Wide High Cube and 45’ containers, as well as a recently patented guide system that speeds up operations. The goal is to accommodate the company's wide variety of special containers, offering competitive flexibility by adapting to each client's specific cargo needs.
The company is now doubling its efforts with the purchase of a third vessel, also compliant with the most stringent environmental regulations. This upcoming vessel will incorporate a purification system to filter exhaust gases from its engines. While the acquisition cost, specific conditions, and delivery timelines have not yet been disclosed, they are expected to be announced shortly.
The acquisition of this third vessel marks another key step in expanding its fleet and signals its intentions regarding the operational expectations for the 70,000 square meter maritime terminal located at Muelle 11 of the Port of Alicante. The activity at this terminal has been a significant contributor to the increase in container movements reflected in the Port's monthly statistics since late 2025.
In terms of service frequency reconfiguration, JSV has recently renewed and adapted its maritime transport services since late May, maintaining a double weekly departure to the Canary Islands with an express service arriving on Mondays. For the connection with Turkey, a second vessel has been added, enabling a departure from the Port of Istanbul on Fridays, arriving in Alicante on Wednesdays and Barcelona on Thursdays, as well as departures from Alicante and Barcelona on Fridays arriving in Istanbul on Thursdays.
These routes are complemented by the rail service operating between Alicante and Madrid, and between Alicante and Miranda de Ebro, where JSV Logistic manages its own container terminal, now with a total of five weekly trains. This facilitates cargo continuity towards the north of the country and Central Europe, promoting multimodality and reducing conventional road transport, thereby decreasing atmospheric pollutant emissions.
