The Conselleria de Sanidad (Health Department) has provisionally suspended surgical activity at Medimar Hospital in Alicante since March 31, following an inspection that revealed both material and staffing deficiencies.

The decision to halt surgical interventions was made after a recent visit by inspection technicians from the Conselleria de Sanidad. This inspection is part of the periodic reviews conducted at all hospital centers within the framework of the Waiting List Elimination Plan.
According to the hospital's management company, the technicians identified several

areas for improvement in the surgical block

These observations led to the recommendation to pause general surgical activity. Consequently, some scheduled operations were redirected to Vithas Alicante Hospital, while others have been rescheduled for a later date.
The company has assured that surgical activity will resume normally once the technicians from the Conselleria de Sanidad

"verify that their recommendations have been implemented"
