Strong winds recorded this Sunday have forced firefighters to intervene on the upper part of the Port d’Alacant bonfire, securing a main figure that posed a risk of falling.

Strong winds caused concern this Sunday at the Port d’Alacant bonfire, as the upper section of the monument began to sway considerably. The main figure was the most affected, with one of its arms posing a risk of falling.
Firefighters removed one arm and secured the other with ropes to prevent further damage, while the top of the monument continued to sway. As a precautionary measure, the safety perimeter around the monument was expanded, and access barriers were removed.
Local Police officers, the Councilor for Festivities, Cristina Cutanda, the president of the Federació de Fogueres, David Olivares, and the president of the Port d’Alacant bonfire, Aurora Martínez, were present at the scene to monitor the situation.
Additionally, access to the Samoa beach bar was temporarily closed on one side, with an alternative entrance provided. The area will remain under security measures until 4:00 PM, when the wind intensity is expected to decrease.
The Port d’Alacant commission is facing the situation calmly, anticipating an improvement in the weather that will ensure the monument's full stability.
