“"We await a call or a summons from the Ministry of Education to resume negotiations on the demands of the teaching collective, for which an indefinite strike has been called in public non-university education in the Valencian Community since this Monday. Otherwise, the indefinite strike continues, we have no other option."

A thousand Infant and Secondary school teachers from the L'Alacantí region took to the streets this Tuesday to demand salary and educational infrastructure improvements, on the second day of an indefinite strike.
The protests took place in the streets of Sant Vicent del Raspeig, Mutxamel, and Sant Joan, with concentrations in front of the town halls of each locality. Demands include a reduction in student-teacher ratios, measures for classroom acclimatization, the elimination of bureaucratic obstacles, and an increase in Valencian language teaching. Protest actions also occurred in Xixona.
These mobilizations are happening on the second day of an indefinite strike, following the massive demonstrations on Monday in the main capitals of the Valencian Community. So far, calls for negotiation have been made, but no steps have been taken to meet.
The union demands that the Ministry officials convene a new Sectoral Table to address a proposal covering all their requests. For his part, the regional secretary of Education stated on Monday afternoon that the turnout for the first day of the strike had reached 50.12 percent and indicated that the administration remains open to negotiating with the unions to call off the protest, although he acknowledged that "right now it is complicated" and "there would have to be a concession from both sides".
A PSOE councilor from San Vicente has criticized the inaction of the Popular Party and Vox in the municipality, noting that they have not promoted the Edificant Plan since they took office. He lamented the systematic blocking of investments for educational infrastructure, in the context of the second day of concentrations for the indefinite general strike. Nearly a thousand people, including teachers, students, and families, have demonstrated in San Vicente to demand improvements in Public Education.
The socialist councilor warned that the general sentiment of the educational community calls for a systematic improvement of public school conditions, which suffer from very high ratios, depleted staff, and increasingly fewer resources to invest in infrastructure. He urged the Consell of the Popular Party, along with the government team of San Vicente, to stop blocking the works of the Edificant Plan in the municipality.
