The National Police have arrested a 56-year-old woman in Alicante as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of facilitating illegal immigration. According to police information, the woman used her home to house individuals in an irregular situation in Spain, charging money for it and creating inhuman living conditions for the residents.
The investigation, carried out by agents of the Unit Against Immigration Networks and Document Fraud (UCRIF) of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante, began upon learning of the existence of this dwelling. The police indicate that this activity exploited the vulnerability of undocumented individuals in precarious economic situations. The person responsible for the home, according to the investigation, would expel residents at the slightest sign of non-payment.
Neighbor complaints about late-night noise had alerted authorities to the constant arrival of people at the dwelling, causing unrest in the neighborhood. This same home was the subject of a police operation in 2024, where 12 people were found housed in unsanitary conditions, paying ten euros daily to live there. On that occasion, both the owner and other residents were arrested.
In this new operation, officers found the owner, her three children, and a 27-year-old man who was in an irregular situation in Spain, residing in unsanitary conditions. This man was arrested for an infringement of the Immigration Law.
When the agents informed the main suspect of her arrest for facilitating illegal immigration, the woman uttered serious threats against the officers and their families, in addition to resisting the police action. The woman was also found to be in an irregular situation in Spain.
Finally, the woman has been arrested for the alleged commission of crimes of facilitating illegal immigration, threats, resistance, and disobedience to authority figures, as well as an infringement of the Immigration Law. She has been placed at the disposal of the Alicante Court of Instruction on duty.
