“"We cannot allow European funds for the rehabilitation of 22 buildings in Virgen del Remedio, planned since 2023, to be lost. It is inadmissible that the City Council is now requesting an extension because it has been unable to award contracts worth 7 million. Virgen del Remedio and the north zone in general do not deserve the neglect, apathy, and abandonment of Luis Barcala's government."

Compromís Alicante has visited the Virgen del Remedio neighborhood to understand residents' needs and criticize the city council's management of infrastructure and services.
The Compromís Alicante party has increased its presence in neighborhoods to gather citizen demands regarding infrastructure, aiming to contribute to the General Plan being prepared by the city council, from which they criticize the lack of real citizen participation.
During their visit to Plaza Argel, in the Virgen del Remedio neighborhood (North Zone), residents conveyed their concern about the delay in rehabilitating housing blocks, a long-awaited project.
Furthermore, persistent issues with bus line 11, connecting to the hospital, have been highlighted, along with deficiencies in cleaning, the constant appearance of debris near dumpsters, and a general sense of insecurity.
Councilor Sara Llobell announced that they will request an extraordinary Urban Planning commission to demand explanations for the delay and to learn about urgent solutions to avoid losing European funds. Llobell criticized Barcala's government for blaming a lack of funding, especially now when there is an opportunity to rehabilitate 262 homes with external funds, yet the city council is unable to even award the contracts.
