The firm Iata Espardenyes, from La Mata, was honored with the Valencian Community Craft Award, the highest category of these distinctions. The jury praised its four-generation trajectory dedicated to manufacturing handmade espadrilles and its ability to integrate tradition with contemporary design without losing its identity.
Also in Castellón, glass artisan Andrés Belloví Agost received the Avant-garde Award for his piece Foc, a sculptural necklace made of blown glass. This piece was highlighted for its creative approach, its adaptability to the body, and its innovative interpretation of traditional techniques.
“"Valencian craftsmanship demonstrates that tradition and innovation can coexist naturally, while also highlighting the sector's ability to adapt to changes without losing its cultural essence."
The Minister of Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Commerce, Marián Cano, emphasized during the event that the Consell is working to ensure the economic viability of the craft sector and facilitate its modernization, with the aim of consolidating craftsmanship as an attractive professional option for new generations.
The awarded and finalist pieces from this edition are part of an exhibition at the Valencian Community Craft Center, where they can be visited alongside the selected works.
