The construction of the new Guardia Civil headquarters in Alicante is advancing after its inclusion in the Strategic Infrastructure Plan of the Ministry of the Interior, as confirmed by the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé.

The Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has confirmed that the project for the new Guardia Civil headquarters in Alicante is moving forward thanks to the necessary economic availability and the resolution of the land issue, which has been overcome through collaboration with the City Council.
Bernabé indicated that the key ingredients for advancing the project are in place, including financial availability and its inclusion in the infrastructure plan. The delegate avoided specifying timelines for the initiation of the entire process.
These statements were made following the inauguration ceremony of the new head of the Alicante Command, Colonel Francisco Poyato Sevillano, held at Casa Mediterráneo, with the presence of institutional representatives such as the mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, and the president of the Provincial Council, Toni Pérez.
The Alicante Command is the third most important in Spain in terms of people served, municipalities, and personnel, covering 1.5 million inhabitants and comprising over 3,000 agents. The delegate highlighted Alicante's importance as an entry point to Africa and for its significant European resident population.
Bernabé also addressed the evolution of crime, noting a 20% increase in cybercrime and the need to adapt resources. She positively assessed the transformation of the Guardia Civil, with an increase in female presence from 15% to 35%, and its work in protecting victims of gender violence, covering 18,000 women under the Viogén program.

"We are embarking on a stage of enormous challenge at the head of the Alicante Command."
