Ana Bonmatí, the new territorial delegate for the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) in Alicante, has presented her work strategies based on a humanistic vision of art. Her main priorities focus on education, aiming to train and educate the public for better understanding and accessibility of cultural practices, and on inclusion, seeking active participation from cultural agents in designing programs that cover the entire province.
Bonmatí has highlighted the importance of cultural mediation, stating that "if, for example, a film is not very accessible for everyone to understand, the public must be educated through mediation." The goal is to create a bridge to attract new audiences and retain existing ones, thereby expanding access to culture. "The educational part must serve as a bridge to attract new audiences, so they can be trained and access culture," she summarized.
Regarding inclusion, the intention is to convene a meeting with programmers, press, and cultural managers to design strategies that enhance the cultural production of the Valencian administration in Alicante and its province. Bonmatí, who has a background in working with at-risk youth through culture, aims to promote inclusion by engaging agents already active in this area. These initiatives, along with potential musical programming, are expected to be implemented with an annual budget starting from 2027.
The presentation, which took place this Wednesday at the Teatre Arniches, was attended by Álvaro López-Jamar, Director General of the IVC, as well as María José Mora, Luis Gosálbez, and Beatriz Traver, Deputy Directors of various departments. López-Jamar described Bonmatí as a "top-tier signing" and praised the work of her predecessor, Alicia Garijo, emphasizing continuity alongside new proposals for 2027.
