The city of Alicante has been selected to host the final phase of the 51st King's Handball Cup, an event that will bring together eight national teams from June 5 to 7 at the Centro de Tecnificación.

The draw, held in the Salón Imperio of the Real Casino Liceo, has determined the quarter-final matchups. The pairings will be Eón Horneo Alicante-Bada Huesca, Bidasoa-Torrelavega, Nava-Cuenca, and Barça-Valladolid. For three days, Alicante will become the focus of national handball, with a parallel program dedicated to grassroots sports.

"Alicante awaits this final phase with open arms because handball is one of our hallmarks, and the dispute of this King's Cup will once again place this city on the national and international sports map of reference."

the municipal official
The choice of Alicante as the venue is justified by the work carried out at the grassroots level in schools and clubs, as well as by the rich history this sport has had in the city. The trajectory of handball in Alicante, the climate, hotel capacity, and youth development work were key arguments highlighted during the event.

"This is the best Cup that can be played and will make more than one of those who attend the tournament even more passionate about this clean and healthy sport that strives to continue growing."

the president of the Spanish Handball Federation
The host team, Eón Horneo Alicante, will face Bada Huesca in the quarter-finals. Their coach stated that the Alicante team approaches the tie «with enthusiasm and humility to compete as best as possible,» considering it an experience for continued growth.
In parallel, the draw for the Mini Cup, a cadet competition to be held at the Pitíu Rochel pavilion, has also been defined. Group A will include Balonmano Nava, Bidasoa Irún, Redi Cuenca, and Torrelavega. Group B will feature Recoletas Atlético Valladolid, Barça, Balonmano Huesca, and Fundación Agustinos de Alicante. The top two teams from each group will play the final at the Centro de Tecnificación, before the grand final of the King's Cup.
