Residents of Alicante reaffirm their protest stance after analyzing the proposed configuration of the future Central Park presented by the Ministry of Transport and the Alicante City Council. The call for protest, in the form of a march and concentration, seeks to demand the development of works for this green area, which has been claimed for more than two decades on the land freed up by the railway tracks after the construction of the underground AVE box.

Representatives of the collective have expressed their distrust and disappointment regarding the approach presented at the public event. They criticize that, after several presentation dates, they were only offered an agreement to sign a new convention, without real data or execution deadlines. They insist that, after more than 30 years demanding the connection of neighborhoods and the Central Park, residents need facts, not promises.
Furthermore, residents criticize that the proposal does not include complete undergrounding, but only the covering of the current provisional station, which will save more than half of the budget without affecting the quality of the park. They also reject the construction of the 1,400 planned homes and a new shopping center, arguing that Alicante does not need more luxury homes or shopping centers, but rather social housing and a true park.
Finally, the collective agreed to demand the start of cleaning works in the area to begin the park, and subsequently, the larger works. Meanwhile, the demonstration/concentration will take place on June 12 at 7 PM at the Adif entrance, and a signature collection will be held to deliver to the ministry.
