The Alicante City Council has approved the award of an urgent contract to renew the radio communication equipment for the Local Police, Firefighters, and Civil Protection with an investment of 262,692 euros.

The procedure, which has been divided into three lots, will allow for the acquisition of nearly 150 radio sets and portable terminals over the next two years. This renewal aims to replace devices that have reached the end of their useful life or are damaged, as well as to increase the number of units available to meet the current needs of emergency services.
According to the head of the Security department, the new material is designed to operate on the Comunicaciones Móviles Digitales de Emergencias y Seguridad de la Comunidad Valenciana (Red COMDES) network. New features include equipment adapted for fire situations and devices capable of transmitting on the VHF marine band, which will facilitate communications during offshore interventions.
In addition to the terminals, the contract includes the supply of essential accessories such as batteries, chargers, antennas, speakers, and headsets. The award has been distributed among several companies in the sector, thus ensuring the comprehensive replacement of the technical equipment necessary for security and prevention tasks in the municipality of Alicante.

"The new material will allow for the replacement of terminals that are damaged or have reached the end of their useful life and the incorporation of more units for new needs."
