The Alicante Provincial Council has concluded the 54th edition of its Provincial Band Contest, an event that highlighted groups from Muro de Alcoy, Cocentaina, Polop de la Marina, and La Vila Joiosa.

The contest, which took place this weekend at the ADDA (Alicante Music Auditorium), brought together various musical ensembles from the province. This event is consolidated as one of the oldest and most relevant cultural initiatives of the provincial institution.

"With more than half a century of history behind it, the Alicante provincial band contest firmly maintains the Provincial Council's commitment to local culture and music and, more importantly, continues to inspire each new generation of young musicians."

The winning groups, who received the first prize and honorable mention in their respective categories, are the Unión Musical de Muro de Alcoy (1st Section), the Ateneo Musical de Cocentaina (2nd Section), the Unión Musical de Polop de la Marina (3rd Section), and the Agrupación Musical Mediterráneo La Vila Joiosa (4th Section).
The jury of the competition evaluated aspects such as tuning, sound, interpretation, and technique of the bands. The winning formations will have the opportunity to participate in the Valencian Community Band Contest, organized by the Institut Valencià de Música.

"We will continue to support our bands from the Provincial Council, a hallmark of which we are very proud and one of our cultural strongholds with greater recognition beyond our borders."
