The Local Development Agency of the Alicante City Council has launched the first edition of the 'Impulsajoven' Workshop School, an initiative to improve youth employability through paid training.

From March 1 until February 28, 2027, a total of 30 unemployed young people aged between 16 and 30 are participating in this program. The initiative, which has a subsidy of 743,481 euros from Labora, is structured into three specialties: gardening and nurseries, bricklaying and painting, and basic cooking operations.
Each group consists of ten participants who will receive training for one year, alternating with real work experience. During the first three months, students receive training in municipal centers with a scholarship, while from the fourth month onwards, they are hired as Impulsalicante employees, combining learning and work experience.

"This year we are focusing on unemployed young people up to 30 years old, offering paid training in trades with high demand in sectors such as construction and restoration."

The program has a total duration of 1,920 hours, of which at least 35% is dedicated to theoretical training aimed at obtaining full Professional Certificates. Beyond training, the initiative also has a significant social impact, as participants carry out real work that contributes to improving public spaces and municipal services.
In the field of construction, students will carry out repairs and improvements in bricklaying and painting in facilities such as the Local Development Agency, the bullring, public schools, senior centers, social emergency care centers, and public roads. In gardening, they will carry out adaptation work in areas such as the Alejandrina Candela center, the Príncipe Felipe business incubator, the El Tosalet center, or the Las Cigarreras vertical garden.
For their part, cooking students will collaborate in educational centers with school canteens such as the 7 Enanitos and Els Xiquets infant schools and schools such as Mora Puchol, Gloria Fuertes, San Roque, La Aneja, and Carlos Arniches. The municipal official has announced that on March 30, 2026, the application for a new Workshop School for 2027 was formalized, with a budget of 791,185 euros, of which Impulsalicante will contribute 36,000 euros.
