The Alicante City Council has carried out over 450 asphalt paving and road repair operations in less than a year, driven by a new road maintenance contract that doubles the capacity of the previous one.

These interventions, which include paving roads, replacing cobblestones, and rectifying deficiencies in roadways, roundabouts, medians, and drainage works, have been extended throughout the city. The improvement of the road network is a priority for the municipal corporation.
This week and next, machinery is working in areas such as Diputado Antonio García Miralles avenue in Juan XXIII, where a section will be paved. The roadway of Barítono Paco Latorre street will also be repaired. Other streets that will receive improvements include Valle Inclán in Virgen del Remedio, Campo de Mirra in San Blas, and Gerona in the city center.

"Maintenance work must be constant and affect all neighborhoods, and with the entry into force of the new contract, we can improve the quality of this fundamental service as well as the response time."

the Councilor for Infrastructures
The Councilor for Infrastructures highlighted that progress is being made in sustainability with renewed machinery. Among the novelties, a thermocontainer asphalt truck is included, which can keep small quantities of hot asphalt for up to 36 hours, providing greater flexibility and speed in the work, avoiding reloading material and allowing work throughout the day with a capacity of nine tons.
Furthermore, Grupo Moa (Mediterráneo de Obras y Asfaltos) has incorporated the first 100% electric industrial vehicle that will provide service to a public administration in the province of Alicante. This initiative reinforces the commitment to sustainable mobility and the transformation towards a cleaner and more efficient city, also reducing noise.
