The interventions took place on coaches covering the route between Almería and Barcelona. The first arrest, on April 8, involved a 46-year-old passenger, a resident of Barcelona, who was carrying 130 grams of cocaine and 5.90 grams of marijuana. This operation has been highlighted by municipal authorities as one of the unit's most significant in terms of the quantity of drugs seized.
During a routine inspection during a stop at Alicante bus station, on Loring Avenue, the dog Kata identified the traveler, marking his genital area and a backpack. Officers found 5.42 grams of 'tusi' (pink cocaine) and 5.90 grams of marijuana in the backpack. Subsequently, at police facilities, a more thorough search revealed two additional packages containing 103 grams of cocaine and 21.4 grams of 'tusi', hidden in the detainee's underwear and covered with ground coffee.
The dog 'Kata' identified the detained traveler and specifically marked his genital area and a backpack he was carrying as luggage.
The first individual was taken to the cells and placed at the disposal of the court for an alleged drug trafficking offense. In a second operation, carried out on Thursday, officers arrested another 28-year-old man, also a resident of Barcelona, after the dog Kata signaled him. This second detainee was carrying 72.7 grams of pink cocaine, hidden in the inner pocket of his sweatshirt and in a sock inside his backpack. Officers also confiscated 535 euros in various denominations of banknotes.
