The Alicante City Council has taken a decisive step to improve the Aguamarga industrial area environment by planning to award, in this Tuesday's Government Board meeting, the contract for the urban development project of Avenida de Elche. The selected company to carry out this task is A-Ingenia Research and Consulting S. L., with a budget of 178,190 euros (VAT included) and a five-month execution period, according to municipal sources.
This initiative is supported financially by the Valencian Institute for Competitiveness and Innovation (Ivace), which also subsidizes the execution of a roundabout on the same avenue, specifically at the intersection with Algueña street, and the installation of traffic signage. These works, valued at 221,177 euros and with a three-month deadline, had their project approved in February.
The environment of Avenida de Elche in the Aguamarga industrial area is characterized by a combination of buildings for storage, offices, and factories, with a partially urbanized road. For years, the objective has been to enhance the services and infrastructure, as well as to adapt and improve access, green areas, and the general operability of the zone.
The comprehensive urban development project for Avenida de Elche, the main road crossing the entire industrial area, is conceived as a key planning action. This project must consider environmental criteria to achieve energy-efficient urbanization, promoting waste reduction and recycling, as well as enhancing advanced techniques and ensuring universal accessibility.
The municipal statement highlights that "this action will provide a specific planning instrument for the integral improvement of the area that meets the programmatic and functional criteria defined by the Alicante City Council".
Furthermore, the project approved in February includes the implementation of a new circular roundabout near the industrial park's boundary, at the intersection of Algueña street and Avenida de Elche. Traffic signage elements will also be installed from Antoñita Moreno Avenue to the intersection with the N-332, aiming to improve safety and traffic management, including vertical and horizontal signage, and traffic calming measures.
Both actions are part of the Ivace grant call for investment projects aimed at the improvement, modernization, and provision of infrastructure and services in industrial parks and technology enclaves for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years.
