The city of Alicante has completed the second participatory phase of its Structural General Plan, a process that brought together over 800 citizens and 41 specialists to enrich the most important urban planning document of the last 39 years.
This second participatory milestone included the holding of six thematic tables, where fundamental aspects such as green infrastructure, mobility, facilities and services, urban regeneration, housing, and economic development were debated. Additionally, two specific discussions were added concerning rural areas and the relationship between the Port and the city.

"More than 800 Alicantinos attended the thematic tables on green infrastructure, mobility, facilities and services, urban regeneration, housing and economic development, to which two specific debates on rural areas and the Port-city relationship were also added."
The high turnout of participants was highlighted by the Urban Planning department, which emphasized the interest and enthusiasm generated by this fundamental project for Alicante's economic and social development in the coming years. The contributions made by speakers and attendees will be compiled into a conclusions document that will be incorporated into the draft of the Structural General Plan.
The participation included the presence of six representatives from the regional administration linked to the topics addressed, which is considered relevant for the subsequent environmental evaluation of the document by the Generalitat Valenciana. Among the participating entities were Architects Without Borders, Asaja Alicante, Sustainable Mobility Platform l’Alacantí, and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Southern Alicante, among many others.

"Alicante, a plan with you is more than a slogan. The City Council wants the General Plan to be the plan for everyone and for all."
The representation was completed with companies and entities such as Aguas Municipalizadas de Alicante, Vectalia, Iberdrola, and Pimesa, as well as university experts in architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, and economics, ensuring a high level of competence and plurality in the debates.
