The First Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Housing, Employment, Youth and Equality has underscored the Consell's commitment to the transformation and revitalization of the public housing group in this neighborhood. The actions include the comprehensive rehabilitation of two buildings in Yolanda Escrich Square, totaling 36 homes.
One of the buildings, with 20 homes in portals 5 and 6, is in the final phase of conditioning. The other, with 16 homes in numbers 7 and 8, is currently under execution. In addition to these comprehensive rehabilitations, structural preventive maintenance work, as well as facade and roof repairs, are being carried out on the rest of the neighborhood's buildings.
“"From here I reaffirm the Consell's commitment to public housing and the future of the Miguel Hernández neighborhood, demonstrated by key actions like these."
The Consell's purpose is to improve the entire Miguel Hernández group, promoted in 1952 and consisting of 20 blocks with a total of 520 homes. These works aim to solve problems of accessibility, energy efficiency, and habitability, with a very beneficial impact for residents.
In parallel, the Ministry of Housing continues to analyze the condition of the three buildings on Pavía Street affected by a fire last February. These checks, pending the completion of debris removal and shoring work, will determine whether repair is appropriate or if their deterioration warrants demolition and reconstruction.
The vice-president also highlighted the Consell's effort to address the housing problem through the Plan Vive Comunitat Valenciana. This plan seeks to mobilize available public land for the construction of protected housing, with over 2,700 homes already underway in the province of Alicante, of which 700 correspond to the city.
Soon, the Vice-Presidency will tender the works for the construction of 76 public protection homes intended for affordable rent in Benisaudet, and another call is being prepared for a plot on Doctor Rico Avenue, where an additional 59 homes could be located. The Generalitat has invested 10.9 million euros in the maintenance of these public housing groups in Alicante alone.
