Last week, Alicante residents already enjoyed Santa Faz Thursday, a public holiday in the city of Alicante. Many took advantage of the opportunity to create a long weekend, accumulating four days off with good weather.
So far this year, the city of Alicante has had several weekdays as holidays, including January 1st (Thursday), January 6th (Tuesday), March 19th (Thursday), April 3rd (Friday), and April 6th (Monday).
The next significant holiday is May 1st, Labor Day, which this year falls on a Friday. This will allow for a three-day long weekend, not only in Alicante but throughout Spain, as it is one of the national holidays marked on the labor calendar.
In addition to this, several other holidays remain in the city of Alicante for the rest of the year. These include June 23rd (Hogueras de San Juan, local holiday) which will be a Tuesday, June 24th (San Juan) falling on a Wednesday, and August 15th (Assumption) on a Saturday.
Other important dates are October 9th (Day of the Valencian Community) on a Friday, October 12th (National Day of Spain) on a Monday, December 8th (Immaculate Conception) on a Tuesday, and December 25th (Christmas) on a Friday.
