Culture takes center stage this weekend in Alicante and Elche with a varied offering of performing arts, including the «Abril en Danza» festival and several theater plays.

The «Abril en Danza» festival celebrates its fifteenth edition with five dance shows scheduled for this weekend in venues across Alicante and Elche. The program kicks off on Friday with the screening of the documentary Antonia Mercè/La Argentina at the Gil-Albert Institute, with free admission. In the afternoon, the Secadero de Las Cigarreras will host street performances featuring the Andalusian company La Venidera, Cía Jacob Gómez from Valencia, and Galician dancer Daniel Rodríguez. Alicantino singer-songwriter Billy Mandanga will serve as master of ceremonies.
On Saturday, the Teatre Arniches in Alicante will present «Internacional», a contemporary dance showcase with pieces from companies from Germany, Italy, Cuba, and Switzerland. On Sunday, the festival moves to Elche with a street session in the Plaza de la Glorieta and, in the afternoon, the Gran Teatre will host «Emergentes», a platform for young talents from various autonomous communities and European countries.
In theater, the comedy Mejor no decirlo, directed by Claudio Tolcachir, will be performed with Imanol Arias and María Barranco. The play, by Salomé Lelouch, explores the dynamics of a marriage that, for once, considers telling each other absolutely everything. Additionally, Lolita will voice «Poncia» in an adaptation of Lorca's work at the Palau Altea on Saturday.
Finally, Paco Mir directs Locuras paralelas, a comedy arriving at the Teatro Municipal de Torrevieja on Sunday, and the Teatre Arniches in Alicante will host Las apariciones on Friday, a self-fiction about the future and the capacity of bodies on stage to make what is to come present.
