Nearly a hundred young people from across the Comunitat Valenciana have participated in the Cavanilles Youth Expedition in the La Serranía region, transforming the territory into a living classroom to rediscover the rural world.

For four days, between Higueruelas and Andilla, participants shared experiences and immersed themselves in the culture, history, and rural way of life of these inland Valencian municipalities. The experience served as a space for learning, coexistence, and discovery for the youth.
Through hiking routes, botanical observations inspired by Cavanilles, and orienteering races, the young people explored the environment, understanding its natural richness and its value for the future. The expedition also delved into historical memory with visits to Civil War refuge caves and the interpretive classroom in Higueruelas, bringing them closer to the social and human impact of the conflict.

"From IVAJ, we are delighted with this project and will continue to support initiatives like this that give visibility and opportunities to young people."

Vicent Ripoll · General Director of IVAJ
The program was complemented with ecological awareness and forest conservation workshops, with the participation of the Provincial Fire Consortium of Valencia. Social dynamics and meetings with residents were also held, generating a direct exchange that strengthens the bond between youth and the territory. This initiative was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Sustainable Territorial Development area of the Diputación de Valencia and the support of the Institut Valencià de la Joventut (IVAJ).

"I am delighted to see young people like these, so involved and interested in getting to know my town and the rest of the rural world, as they are the future of our society. It has been a pleasure for Expedición Cavanilles to visit us and give visibility to the inland towns."

Melanio Esteban · Mayor of Higueruelas and President of the Forum of Inland Municipalities of the FVMP
The Cavanilles Youth Expedition is an educational, social, and cultural program that brings together young people from all over the Comunitat Valenciana on free expeditions throughout the year, with the aim of bringing them closer to the reality of the rural world. Inspired by the legacy of Cavanilles, the project fosters an active, critical, and committed youth, capable of understanding, valuing, and defending the territory.
