The À Punt program, produced in collaboration with the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FVMP), explores three emblematic festivals of the Valencian Community this week. The program's festive route makes a stop in Morella, Jarafuel, and Molins (a district of Orihuela), showcasing the history, protagonists, and celebrations that keep the identity of Valencian towns alive. The new episode will air on Friday, June 19, at 10:45 PM, with a repeat broadcast on Saturday at 10:45 AM.
In Morella, the program will reveal one of the oldest Corpus Christi celebrations in Spain, documented since the year 1358. Presenter Berta Báidez and reporter Ernesto Peretó will showcase the dances, characters, and rituals that have been passed down for nearly seven centuries. With historian Carlos Sangüesa, the origin of the festival will be explored, and with the mayor, Bernabé Sangüesa, the 'Degolla', a children's parade reenacting the slaughter of the Holy Innocents, will be examined.
In Jarafuel, reporter Nerea Camps will experience the XVII Feria del Almez, a fair that promotes the craftsmanship of the lote tree (lledoner), an activity that has been key to the local economy since the 19th century. Attendees will meet the artisans who keep this craft alive, such as those from the family business Bastones y Horcas Amadeo Martínez. The fair will also feature a gathering of classic Vespas, recalling the first adventurers who circled the world on these scooters.
Finally, Mari Carmen Montes will travel to Molins, a district of Orihuela, to cover the patron saint festivities in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua. The program will follow the procession, the preparations for the procession with the Asociación de Costaleros de San Antonio de Padua y Ecce-Homo, and will culminate with the solemn procession and the traditional dance of Saint Anthony.
‘Terra de festes’ thus continues its journey through the Valencian Community, giving voice to the towns, their traditions, and the people who ensure that the festive legacy remains alive.
