The Generalitat has developed 15 hiking routes across ten municipalities in the interior of Castellón, initiating their promotion to foster active and sustainable tourism that values the rural environment.

The conditioning and signage of trails have been carried out in municipalities such as Cinctorres, Castellfort, Ares del Maestrat, Toga, Arañuel, Montanejos, Serra d’en Galceran, Culla, Morella, and Zorita del Maestrat. These interventions focus on areas of high landscape and historical value, recovering traditional paths and livestock trails in the regions of Els Ports, l’Alt Maestrat, l’Alt Millars, and la Plana Alta.
Notable routes include the SL-CV34 in Cinctorres, offering views of the Rambla Sellumbres; the PR-CV308 and PR-CV309 in Castellfort, connecting with Cinctorres and Vilafranca respectively; and the SL-CV46 in Ares del Maestrat, leading to La Mola d’Ares and featuring remnants of Civil War trenches.
Other trails include the SL-CV70 in Toga through the Vasall ravine; the SL-CV95 in Arañuel, known as the Balcón del Mijares; and in Montanejos, the SL-CV 104 to the ruins of Castillo de la Alquería and the SL-CV 105 with views of the Barranco de la Maimona. The Serra d’en Galceran offers the SL-CV94, a short route combining landscape and archaeological heritage.
Furthermore, the PR-CV01 in Culla connects with Vilafranca, la Pobla del Bellestar, and la Iglesuela del Cid (Teruel), following ancient livestock routes. In Zorita del Maestrat, the PR-CV 230 is notable for the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Balma, and the PR-CV246 crosses the Bergantes river.

"From the Generalitat, we are developing this new project that promotes the trails in two perfectly coordinated execution phases: a first phase at the infrastructure level, focused on cleaning, repair, and safety of the route, and a second phase through promotion and enhancement via the production of videos, brochures, and posters."

José Antonio Redorat · Director General of Local Administration
José Antonio Redorat, Director General of Local Administration, highlighted that the project reaffirms the Generalitat's commitment to territorial cohesion and creating opportunities in rural areas. The selection of routes prioritized criteria such as demographic vulnerability, inclusion in the Natura 2000 Network, and registration in the Valencian Community's Trail Registry.
These projects are part of the strategic program Sendes de la Comunitat Valenciana, with an investment of 490,000 euros funded by European Next Generation funds. The objective is to adapt 30 trails in 21 municipalities at risk of depopulation for their official homologation, turning them into certified routes for nature tourism.
