The truck that overturned on June 23 on the CV-124 in Forcall (Castellón), resulting in severe fractures for its driver and the death of 205 pigs, caught fire this afternoon. Five days after the accident, the vehicle, which remained at the crash site, has suffered a fire.
The initial incident occurred at kilometer 5 of the CV-124 when the truck veered off the road and fell down an approximately 20-meter embankment. The driver, a 68-year-old man, was trapped and extricated by firefighters from the Provincial Consortium of Castellón. He sustained hip and femur fractures, along with multiple traumas, and was airlifted to the General Hospital of Castellón.
The Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Castellón mobilized units from the Baix Maestrat and Els Ports fire stations to extinguish the blaze. According to confirmations from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Castellón, it is the same truck that crashed last week into a ravine. Due to the risk of the fire spreading to adjacent vegetation, a unit from the Service of Forest Firefighters of the Generalitat Valenciana and an aerial unit (plane), which was on forest patrol, were also deployed.
Emergency services acted swiftly to contain the flames. Currently, there have been no reported casualties or third-party damages, although the causes of the fire are still under investigation.
