The Ministry of Justice has completed improvements to the accessibility and detainee area of the judicial headquarters in Novelda, with an investment of 175,000 euros.

The works, which involved an investment of 175,000 euros, will facilitate better service to the approximately 90,000 citizens and ten municipalities within this judicial district, thanks to safer, more inclusive facilities better adapted for people with accessibility issues.
Through actions like this, the Consell reinforces its commitment to more accessible, modern, and secure justice, aligned with the principles of inclusion, efficiency, and sustainability. Continuous improvement of judicial infrastructure is a priority to ensure quality service to citizens and dignified conditions for the professionals working within them.
The renovation took place in the judicial building located at Avenida de la Constitución, 84, which has a built area of 2,863 square meters on a plot of 1,331 square meters.
The accessibility improvements at the Novelda judicial headquarters include the creation of accessible restrooms on the ground and first floors, a lactation room, the installation of ramps in courtrooms to facilitate access to the bench, and the adaptation of accessible counters for public service at the four courts on the first floor.
Additionally, magnetic loops are incorporated at counters and the elevator, as well as infrared loops in courtrooms for individuals with hearing impairments. Horizontal signage with guidance paths on the pavement from the access door to the accessible counters of the Civil Registry and the Deanery on the ground floor, and accessible vertical signage in braille throughout the headquarters, ensuring inclusive and safe circulation.
In the detainee area, the restroom has been renovated with the installation of an anti-vandal sink, faucet, and toilet with an external maintenance access panel, and the security door has been replaced. The cells have new security doors, also equipped with an upper security installation camera accessible only from the outside for maintenance. The security personnel's restroom has also been reformed, replacing wall and floor coverings and installing new sanitary ware. Finally, a new air conditioning system has been incorporated into the detainee area.
