The construction of up to 140 public homes, in the area of the former Colonia de Aviación in Alcoy, takes a step forward that will allow the process to be expedited. The public company Casa 47 will act as the developer and be responsible for the construction project of the flats, following the corresponding tenders.
It should be noted that in 2017 the City Council signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defence, owner of the land of the former Colonia de Aviación, under which it would be integrated into the urban area and Defence would undertake the urbanization of the land, while ceding part to the council for public use. Now, after the Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez, announced that the public company Casa 47 plans to build around 140 flats in the Colonia de Aviación, the plenary session has approved modifying the agreement's signatory, changing from Defence to Casa 47. The aim is that once the land ownership is transferred, the public company can urbanize and simultaneously tender for the drafting of projects and execution. Otherwise, Defence would have urbanized and then sold the land to the public company, delaying the process.
It is worth remembering that last month the Governing Board approved the project to urbanize the Colonia, which involves an investment of five million euros from the Central Government, and will allow for sports areas and 150 parking spaces, in addition to the aforementioned public flats.
The issue of the Colonia de Aviación was one of the topics addressed in the meeting held by the Municipal Housing Observatory of Alcoy, in a session requested by the municipal group Guanyar Alcoi to debate various proposals and establish the lines of work to be carried out in the coming months in the city. This meeting has made it possible to share the functioning of the body as a space for technical and social debate for the evaluation of the municipality's housing needs.
