The Alcoy City Council, through the Tourism Department, participates once again in the European Significant Cemeteries Week, promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the Sant Antoni Abat Cemetery.

Alcoy, a member of the Association of Significant Cemeteries of Europe since 2012, celebrates this year's initiative under the theme 'Quality Education'. The aim is to showcase the rich historical, architectural, and cultural legacy of these sites while promoting a message of peace and coexistence. The Sant Antoni Abat Cemetery is an official member of the European Route of Significant Cemeteries, recognized as a European Cultural Itinerary by the Council of Europe.
Activities, concentrated over the weekend of May 30th and 31st, aim to facilitate attendance for both visitors and residents. This initiative is part of an international project involving cities such as Athens, Budapest, Berlin, Krakow, Bristol, Dresden, Lisbon, Bologna, Oslo, Istanbul, and Turin.
Guided tours will be led by local company professionals. On Saturday, May 30th, at 10 AM, there will be a tour of the monumental cemetery. At 12 PM, Quality Tours Mariola will offer a specific route on Freemasonry, requiring prior registration and costing fifteen euros.
On Sunday, May 31st, the same morning routes will be repeated. At 5 PM, Guiarte con Arte will present the theatrical guided tour 'Under the Shadow of the Cypresses', priced at twelve euros for adults and five euros for those under sixteen. Visitors can also use the mobile application Artour.

"Our cemetery is an open-air museum that narrates the memory of our society, and with these routes, we offer an excellent educational tool to learn about our past in a close and didactic way. We are working to make this site a space for coexistence, joining efforts with the city's guide companies to boost the local economy and offer cultural activities that directly benefit residents and attract quality tourism."
