This action is part of the Urgent Aid Program aimed at associations of municipalities affected by damages caused by the wind and rain storm that began in the Valencian Community on October 29, 2024. It is included within the Cohesion Action between Destinations of the Valencian Community.
The project involves the acquisition and installation of anti-weed mesh in the green infrastructure of the Túria Natural Park. The main objective is to prevent the regeneration and expansion of common reed (Arundo donax) in public plots of the park. The total budget has allowed for work on approximately 8 hectares, from Pont Vell towards Masía de Traver.
Furthermore, this initiative seeks to reduce the combustible biomass load and minimize the risk of forest fires, especially after the effects of the DANA on October 29. The intervention contributes to the conservation and resilience of the Túria Natural Park, strengthening adaptation to climate change and protecting one of the municipality's main environmental and tourist assets.
This project is funded by NextGenerationEU funds from the European Union, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The Mancomunitat Camp de Túria has been tasked with managing 750,000 euros along with the other affected municipalities, including Bétera, Casinos, Benaguasil, Vilamarxant, and Llíria, which are also coordinated to develop different projects in their localities.
