The Loriguilla City Council is moving forward with post-DANA reconstruction with an investment of over 4 million euros, aimed at strengthening hydraulic safety and improving key municipal infrastructure.
This funding, from the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, will be used entirely to increase the hydraulic capacity of the area and reduce the impact of future intense rainfall events. The municipal leadership has emphasized that the goal is not only to repair damages but also to adapt infrastructure to current realities, making the municipality safer.
Among the funded projects, the adaptation of the new Loma bridge, reopened in March 2026, stands out. Although the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) is widening the ravine by 11 meters, the bridge maintains its previous dimensions. Therefore, the city council will act on this infrastructure to adapt it to the new width of the ravine.
Additionally, work will be done on the Estación bridge, operational since August 2025. Currently, it has two insufficient hydraulic passages for large flows. The planned action will incorporate a third opening of 7 meters wide to increase drainage capacity and promote a more continuous water flow.
The plan also includes the creation of a lamination system in the northern part of the municipality. This system is designed to capture and regulate runoff water before it reaches the urban area, with the aim of reducing water entry into the municipality and improving its channeling towards the ravine.
These projects are in addition to other actions carried out after the flood, such as the reconstruction of affected bridges, the improvement of the sewage system, the installation of new storm drains, the undergrounding of power lines, and the renovation of essential supply and service infrastructures.
The municipal leadership has highlighted the importance of coordination among administrations, including the Loriguilla City Council, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation, and the Ministries of Transport and Defense, to process the actions as an emergency and accelerate the recovery of infrastructures affected by the DANA.
