The Sagunt City Council has completed works on the new modal interchange next to the Renfe station, improving train and bus connections for thousands of passengers.

Transferring between the train and the bus in Sagunt will no longer be the same. The Sagunt City Council has finalized the installation works for the new modal interchange located next to the Renfe station, an infrastructure that is now operational and represents a radical change in the daily lives of thousands of passengers using public transport in El Camp de Morvedre. With the opening of this space, situated between Avinguda del País Valencià and Carrer de Dolz Castellar, the definitive elimination of the provisional stop is announced in the coming days.
The project involved a total investment of 115,230 euros (VAT included), financed through the Next Generation Funds of the European Union (within the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan). The objective of the intervention was to adapt this central hub to the growing flow of travelers connecting urban and interurban bus lines with the railway network.
The operation of the new interchange has been designed to resolve the space and comfort issues faced by users. Among the main operational novelties are the expansion of the roadway to improve vehicle operability and prevent congestion, the installation of a new pergola equipped with connected spaces that fully protects travelers from sun and rain, and the integration of bicycles through a new bike rack, linking with the municipal cycle lane network.
Furthermore, the reconfiguration of the space has allowed for the removal of old underground containers, the reorganization of garden areas with a new adapted irrigation system, and the execution of a new electrical connection to ensure the lighting and accessibility of pedestrian routes.

"The interchange is prepared to offer a much better space for those who combine bus and train in their daily commutes."

Javier Raro · Urban Mobility Councilor
The Councilor for Urban Mobility, Javier Raro, highlighted the leap in quality that the entry into service of this infrastructure represents. He also emphasized that this urban intervention has transformed the railway environment: 'This work has allowed us to turn this central area into a much more comfortable, accessible, and welcoming point for everyone.' With this opening, Sagunt offers a modern, fast transfer service prepared for the demands of current sustainable mobility.
