The Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba José Martí has sought the collaboration of the Sagunt City Council to electrify the William Soler University Pediatric Hospital in Havana with photovoltaic energy, a reference center in pediatric cardiology.

Representatives of the association, including a councilwoman for Cooperation and a delegate for Democratic Memory, met to launch the 'Energy for Life' project. This initiative, promoted by the European network MediCuba, aims to install a 196 kWp solar plant at the health center between this year and next.
The William Soler Hospital, located in Boyeros, annually treats 160,000 patients and has 100 beds, three operating rooms, and a pediatric ICU, with a team of 400 professionals. It is a national reference in pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular surgery.
The necessary investment for this project amounts to 190,000 euros. By mid-April, nearly 40,000 euros had been raised thanks to 221 individual and collective contributions. The association coordinates the purchase of photovoltaic equipment and its shipment by sea, along with donations of medical supplies.

"The importance of international cooperation as a tool for social transformation and defense against injustices."
