The Beach Local Police unit began operations this Monday, joining the daily lifeguard service already activated at the beginning of the month. This service will be available until September 6th, covering the peak summer season.
The unit comprises 11 officers: eight agents, two corporals, and one inspector. They will use five quad bikes, two all-terrain vehicles, and a boat for coastal surveillance. Additionally, the Almardà station will remain open throughout the period, staffed by one officer from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Occasional reinforcements are planned for dates with high attendance. On Saint John's Eve (June 23rd), operating hours will be extended from 8:00 PM to 4:00 AM, and during the patron saint festivities of Port de Sagunt (August 15th), a special shift will run from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The Beach Police will work in coordination with the Lifesaving and Lifeguard service to provide a rapid and integrated response to any incidents on the beaches of Puerto de Sagunto, Almardà, Corinto, and Malvarrosa.
“"The Beach Police service is a clear commitment to the safety and tranquility of those who enjoy our coast, both residents of Sagunto and visitors. We have some of the safest beaches on the coast, all thanks to a dedicated team with the necessary resources to act effectively in any situation."
The Councilor for Local Police, María José Carrera, highlighted the importance of this initiative for the summer season, emphasizing the team's commitment and the available resources to ensure safety on Sagunto's coast.
