The local political group insists that this space requires significant improvement, both in its surroundings and in the services it offers to users, including the installation of public restrooms. This demand is not new, but rather one of Iniciativa Porteña's most recurring proposals in recent years.
According to the group, this area suffers from “significant deficiencies” that could be notably improved with a “minimal” municipal investment. Earlier this year, the possibility of creating a concession linked to the paella areas was already proposed to enhance space management and reinforce services.
“"This formula would prevent acts of vandalism and improve the environment through the presence of a service responsible for daily maintenance."
Proposed measures include the installation of public bathrooms, the addition of picnic tables and chairs—similar to those in other areas of Port de Sagunt—and the creation of new water points. Márquez points out that the high attendance recorded last week demonstrates the need to expand these basic services for users.
The IP spokesperson also emphasizes that the provision of public restrooms is a historical demand of the group. He has expressed his surprise at what he considers a “lack of progress” by the Sagunt City Council, governed by PSOE and Izquierda Unida, which he accuses of limiting itself to “scarce” maintenance of the area.
Iniciativa Porteña's proposal aims to transform the La Gerencia paella areas into a large green and leisure space for all citizens. To achieve this, they propose a concession model that would improve cleanliness, service quality, security, and accessibility, without losing the free and open access nature of the facility. The group argues that this mixed management formula is already successfully applied in other municipalities and urges the council to comply with plenary agreements adopted in both the current and previous legislatures.
