The Fallas commissions La Marina, Plaza Rodrigo, Luis Cendoya, and Santa Anna are competing for awards that will be presented on Friday, April 24, at a gala held at the Gran Teatre de Alzira starting at 7:30 PM.
In the case of the La Marina Falla, it has reached the final in the Premi Soler i Godes, which recognizes the best article published in a llibret. The finalist text is “Art en moviment: Pepita Samper, la dona que va vestir València”, written by Carmen Verdú. This commission competes with Fallas from other towns such as Silla, Cullera, Gandia, and Alzira.
During the event, the winners of the award granted by the Sagunto Falla El Mocador y Ciutat de Sagunt will also be announced, which seeks the best article on Fallas and popular culture. In the regional category, endowed with 200 euros, the three finalists are: “Ahir i hui del discurs crític en les festes populars: la sàtira en les Falles i el Carnaval de Cadis” by César Rubio-Belmonte for the Luis Cendoya Falla; “Llegendes i faules del Camp de Morvedre: una aproximació acadèmica des d’una perspectiva etnològica i didàctica”, by Albert Llueca Juesas, published in the Plaza Rodrigo llibret; and “La jota valenciana: ball còpia?”, by Eva Marco Raro for the Santa Anna commission.
At the autonomous community level, the Mocador Award, with a prize of 300 euros, has selected five finalist articles published in llibrets from various commissions across the Valencian Community, including the Sant Vicent de Paül – Diputada Clara Campoamor Falla of València, Barri d’Onda of Borriana, Beniopa of Gandia, Plaça de Jesús of València, and the Carrer Major i Passeig Falla of Gandia.
