Splash Awards Announce Winners in Sagunt

The national comic festival will celebrate its thirteenth edition from November 20-22, 2026, at the Port de Sagunt.

The national comic festival, Splash Awards, will hold its thirteenth edition from November 20-22, 2026, in Port de Sagunt, recognizing outstanding Spanish and international comic works and creators.

The Splash Awards return for their thirteenth edition, taking place from November 20-22, 2026, at the José Veral pavilion in Port de Sagunt. These accolades continue to establish themselves as a benchmark in the national comic scene.
The most significant award, for Best National Work 2025, has been given to Encías quemadas by Natalia Velarde. This award positions the author among the most prominent voices in contemporary Spanish comics.
The jury, composed of Álvaro Pons and Noelia Ibarra (from the University of Valencia's Comic Chair), Iria Ros (popularizer and historian), and festival directors Miguel Ángel Martín and Fran García, convened on June 3rd for deliberations.
The awards also recognize the career of Alfonso Font with the 'Una vida de viñetas' (A Lifetime of Panels) award. Internationally, Alimentar a los fantasmas by Tessa Hulls has been named Best International Work 2025, while Ana Penyas receives the 'Entender el presente' (Understanding the Present) award for En vela.
Additionally, the Graphic Humor award was presented to Iñaki & Frenchy, and Ángel de la Calle was honored with the best screenplay award for La caja de Pandora. Journalist Tomasso Koch (El País) receives the Mass Media award, and Jordi Ojeda the Dissemination award.
Among the accolades for emerging talent, the Young Talent award goes to Marta Altieri for Hotel Abuel. Joe Sacco has been honored for El disturbio eterno as best non-fiction work, and María Castro and Tyto Alba receive the Historical Memory award for Aquí donde estoy.
Splash 2026 will maintain its public and free-of-charge nature, opening its doors on Friday, November 20th, at 4:30 PM and closing on Sunday, November 22nd, at 2:00 PM.
Splash will once again gather prominent authors with exhibitions, talks, presentations, and activities for children and families. The official poster for the 13th edition, created by Elena Uriel and Sento Llobell, will be unveiled at the end of June.
The Councilor for Youth and Childhood, Roberto Rovira, stated that the festival "has undoubtedly established itself as one of the major references for comics in our country and is a source of pride for our city," highlighting the municipal commitment to "public, free, and accessible culture."
Rovira added that this edition "represents a step forward," particularly due to the new venue, and invited citizens to participate in an event that showcases Sagunt as a dynamic and culturally active city.
