The family of Jaume Pons i Vallès, known as Father Jaime, has initiated the creation of the website padrejaime.org. This new digital platform aims to become a living archive of memories, testimonies, photographs, and documents from all those who knew the religious figure, a key personality in the history of Port de Sagunt.
The initiative, supported by the Sagunt City Council, has been entirely funded by his nephew, Tomeu Pons Pons. The goal is to disseminate the memory of a person who left a profound mark on several generations of residents.
The website offers a complete biography of Father Jaime, born in Binissalem (Mallorca) in 1913 and ordained a priest in 1942. Upon arriving in Port de Sagunt, he dedicated his life to the most vulnerable families, significantly contributing to the social development of the neighborhood that now bears his name. The page also includes audiovisual material from the 50th anniversary of his passing and a form for anyone to contribute new documents or testimonies.
“"Father Jaime is part of our city's history and of the families who found a better future in Port de Sagunt. His dedication deserves to be known by current and future generations, and that is why we wanted to support his family in promoting this project."
The Mayor of Sagunt, Darío Moreno, has highlighted the value of this initiative for preserving local memory. He also recalled that in November 2022, the City Council organized a tribute event coinciding with the anniversary of his birth, his priestly ordination, and the start of his work in the city.
