A citizen platform in Canet d'en Berenguer has demanded a public rectification from the mayor regarding his statements and an end to the use of institutional resources for personal attacks.

The Platform of Those Affected by Alleged Illicit Actions has firmly responded to the mayor's public statements, accusing him of manipulating public opinion and politically shielding himself against administrative and judicial decisions of great severity for the municipality. According to the platform, the mayor, who earns over 51,500 euros gross annually, portrays himself as a victim while minimizing the impact of rulings that will affect the town's economic future for decades.
The platform criticizes the partisan use of institutional resources, as the mayor's statements have been disseminated through official documents and City Council channels. They believe this action degrades the principle of neutrality of the Public Administration and turns the City Council into a propaganda tool for the mayor and his governing coalition.

"It is unacceptable for the highest municipal representative to use public resources to discredit organized citizens, issue value judgments without judicial backing, and cover up, with triumphalist headlines and half-truths, administrative responsibilities and economic effects already proven or ruled upon."

The platform has also refuted the mayor's claims regarding several cases. In the EGEVASA – AQLARA case, the mayor minimizes the economic impact to legal costs, omitting a ruling that fundamentally questions the drinking water management model and mandates a review of the 2004 contract with Egevasa, with potential repercussions of millions for the City Council. The Supreme Court has closed the appeal route, leaving the municipality in a position of extreme legal vulnerability.
Regarding the VITAS DE AMARRE case, the mayor presents the reduction of an economic claim as a "great success," while the platform points out that reducing compensation does not erase responsibility for the events that caused it. Finally, in the MAS CAMARENA case, the mayor attempts to present the payment of 2.2 million euros as a positive outcome, omitting that it stems from an irregular allocation of public land for a private center, as declared by the courts.
The platform demands a public rectification from the mayor for his derogatory expressions and unfounded accusations, the immediate cessation of using official channels for personal attacks, explicit recognition of the documented facts and the existence of relevant judicial rulings and economic risks for the municipality, and a verifiable commitment to administrative transparency, including accessible publication of contracts, rulings, and payment agreements.
