The Minister of Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Trade, accompanied by the mayor and the regional secretary for Tourism, visited the municipality to check the progress of the works. These actions seek to consolidate Santa Pola as a more sustainable destination and enhance the visitor experience, as well as the quality of life for residents.
Among the verified advancements are environmental restoration and renaturalization efforts along the coastline, to which nearly 425,000 euros have been allocated. The development of other projects, such as the pedestrian connection between the Castle-Fortress and the promenade, and the intervention in the lighthouse pavilions, was also reviewed.
“"These actions truly represent the direction we want for our tourism: regenerative tourism, capable of improving the territory and its tourist appeal, but, above all, generating direct benefits for the quality of life of the people who live here."
The regional head of Tourism highlighted Santa Pola's tourism dynamism, which boasts 6 Blue Flags, 13 Qualitur Flags, and three Tourist Info offices integrated into the Network. Furthermore, she emphasized its cultural and natural heritage, with 9 Assets of Cultural Interest and almost 40% of the municipal area protected.
The minister reminded that the deadline for the execution of these plans is June 30 and acknowledged the efforts of local entities to finalize pending actions. Across the Valencian Community, 55 Sustainable Tourism Plans in Destination are currently being implemented, endowed with 151 million euros and financed by Next Generation EU European funds.
