The Prosecutor's Office has dismissed the complaint filed by PSPV-PSOE against the Vinalopó hospital, managed by Ribera Salud, for the alleged reuse of single-use catheters. Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, confirmed the judicial decision.

Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, announced today in the Corts that the Prosecutor's Office has dismissed the complaint filed by PSPV-PSOE concerning the alleged reuse of single-use catheters at the Vinalopó hospital, located in Elche and managed by the Ribera Salud group. The complaint was based on internal emails suggesting the reuse of these medical devices up to ten times, a practice prohibited by current regulations due to patient risk.
According to sources from the Ministry of Health, the prosecutorial proceedings were definitively dismissed on April 29, two months after the complaint was filed. An email dated October 6, 2025, sent by the group's head of audit, Ribera Salud, referred to practices already implemented in Elche for cost savings, similar to those proposed for the Torrejón hospital.

"Que sepa usted, para su tranquilidad, que la denuncia que ustedes hicieron ante la Fiscalía por el uso de catéteres en el hospital de Elche ha sido archivada."

During his appearance, Minister Gómez also highlighted the budget increase for the Ministry of Health for 2026, amounting to 9,453 million euros, a 3% increase from the previous year. He emphasized investments in infrastructure, primary care, and mental health. In contrast, representatives from Compromís, Carles Esteve, and the PSPV, Yaissel Sánchez, expressed criticism regarding the excessive referrals to private healthcare.
The health budget represents 36% of the non-financial budget of the Generalitat Valenciana. Among the new initiatives, the launch of 24-hour Urgent Care Centers has been announced, with an investment of 12 million euros, along with technological improvements for primary care, such as a virtual assistant and the Digital Scribe. New diagnostic equipment will also be incorporated into health centers.
Investment in primary care infrastructure is increasing by 10% to 89 million euros, allocated for the construction and renovation of centers in the provinces of Alicante, Castellón, and Valencia. For mental health and addictions, the allocation reaches almost 219 million euros, with new hospital units, neurodevelopment units, and day hospitals.
